The very first cocktail recipe I posted on the blog was the “Truly Dry Martini.” I messed around with the recipe a bit, and the version I ultimately posted was pretty good. . . but not great. So I decided to give it another go.

This version also uses the “Garden 108” spirit from Seedlip as its base, along with some verjus blanc. But this one is called the “Cheater” martini because it’s not technically 100% non-alcoholic, as it also includes a very small amount of dry vermouth. So if you’re strictly no-alcohol, skip this recipe and stick to the original. But if you’re a bit of a cheater like me, give it a try.
My thoughts on this cocktail? The addition of a splash of vermouth made a huge difference in the taste of the cocktail. It’s closer to the sharp, briny flavor of a classic martini with olives–which is the style I prefer. So I think this is now my go-to mostly-dry martini!
Cheater Martini
- 3 oz. Seedlip Garden 108
- 1/4 oz. Verjus blanc
- 1/4 oz. Dry vermouth
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass (or cocktail shaker) with ice, and stir (or shake) for 30 seconds or until icy cold. Strain into a coupe or martini glass, and garnish with olives.
