Elderflower T & T

Here’s my cannabis version of a Gin & Tonic: a Tea & Tonic, or “T&T.” This cocktail uses Kikoko’s Positivi-Tea, a green tea with mint, lemongrass, lemon myrtle, licorice root and safflower petals. I thought that flavor profile would pair nicely with the Elderflower tonic water from Fever Tree.

Positivi-Tea

Brewed at full strength, one sachet of Positivi-Tea has 10 mg of THC and 5 mg of CBD. Personally, 10 mg of THC is too much for me–I would be super loopy. So I brew one sachet in enough water to divide into multiple portions. For this recipe I brewed the tea in 8 oz. of water, using 4 oz. in the cocktail, for a dose of 5 mg THC and 2.5 mg CBD. If you’re new to cannabis and looking to start slow (generally a good idea), you could dilute even further, and brew the tea in 12 oz. of water, dividing into three 4 oz. portions of 3.3 mg THC and 1.25 mg CBD each.

My thoughts on this cocktail? This is one of my favorites! It’s quite delicious, with the mint and lemon balancing each other, and a barely-sweet floral note from the elderflower tonic. And the relatively low dose of THC provides a relaxing, mood-lifting high.

Elderflower T&T

  • 4 oz. Kikoko Positivi-Tea, brewed to your preferred strength and chilled
  • 3 oz. Fever Tree Elderflower tonic water
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • Lemon wheel for garnish

Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add tea, tonic water, and lemon, and stir gently. Garnish with a lemon wheel.
